Effectiveness of Chiropractic

One thing that chiropractic care teaches us is that a person needs to take care of him/herself. We should stay active, exercise every day, practice good nutrition and make sure we take care of ourselves. Chiropractic care easily aids in helping a healthy lifestyle.

A chiropractor is a means to create a healthier lifestyle for your daily life. By visiting a chiropractor for regular check-ups, a patient can reduce the reliance upon surgery and prescription medication for healing.

FYI - many insurance companies now cover chiropractic care, due to many studies conducted that prove that chiropractic care is a cost-effective way to reduce medical practice visits and care. One study: The Effectiveness and Cost Effectiveness of Chiropractic Management of Low-Back Pain - The Manga Report by Pran Manga and Associates 1993, University of Ottawa, Canada compared chiropractic care with hospital outpatient treatment for managing lower back pain. The report concluded (and was followed up 5 years later with the same results) that chiropractic care was more effective than traditional medical care by 29%. Another study, conducted by the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center, showed that chiropractic care reduced headaches by 69% and reduced the need to use painkillers for headaches by 36%. And yet in another study, a retrospective review of 96,627 closed injury claims in North Carolina between 1975 and 1994, that a worker with lower back pain has a better chance of getting better and returning to work faster by seeing a chiropractor whose methods are safer and greatly reduce the chance of return visits for a failed back surgery that might be performed by a medical doctor. In many cases of workman's compensation claims, an insurance carrier may suggest that the injured worker visit a chiropractor before seeing a medical doctor.
